Tracking My Own Progress with MORE Field Guide College

An opportunity to be sponsored for the MORE Field Guide College intake was advertised on the noticeboard at Tinga Lodge. I applied and after the selection process, I was chosen to be a participant. I was beyond excited, I could finally follow my dream of becoming a field guide.

As a tracker, I always thought that to become a field-guide would be easy – well…what a wakeup call I got! I was surprised to see the amount of studying, information, hard work and commitment it requires to become an exceptional guide.

And so, my journey began…However, with the training and guidance of Phillip Wessels (N.J. MORE Head Trainer), I am not only tracking my own progress but I am developing my skills more every day after being exposed to proper guiding ethics.

Because of this I can now proudly stand in front of people and say, “YES I CAN DO IT!” I would like to thank MORE, Phillip Wessels, Arin Wessels, fellow students and all the staff at Lion Sands for supporting me through the duration of this course.

I feel so privileged to be one of the intakes at N.J. MORE Field Guide College. I am hoping to be a good practical example to the rest of the staff that hard work always pays off.
